Registration is required for all conference participants and accompanying persons.

*If your paper is accepted and would like to publish in the conference proceedings, prospective authors and all co-authors need to register and pay registration fee regardless of conference participation.
Registration for poster sessions is DOCOMOMO members or Non members.
** Only Docomomo International members. Please bring your membership card to on the conference. IF you are accepted poster presentation participants, please register either as general docomomo member or non-member category.
***A copy of the student status certificate should be sent via by e-mail ( or fax (+81-36261-7881) to the Conference Secretariat. If you are an accepted author and a student, you will need to register as an AUTHOR not a student.
**** Students can participate in the international conferences but lunch and events are not included. For details please see Student Workshop.

Conference registration fees include:

Passports and Immigration (VISA Information)

Participants who require a visa must apply and join the conference or the workshop. An application for visa is made by the applicant him/herself at the Japanese Embassy / Consulate General with jurisdiction over the area in which the applicant lives or those with jurisdiction over the country of which the applicant’s passport is issued.

Note ? it is strongly recommended that Japanese visa applications are lodged at least a month prior to departure from your port of origin.

Registration Terms and Condition

Confirmation of registration and Receipt
Once your registration and payment is successfully completed, the confirmation and unique registration ID will be emailed to you. This ID will also be issued individually to the co-authors who completed the payment. If you need a receipt of your payment, you need to contact to issue the receipt.
Cancellation policies

Cancellations must be submitted via e-mail,

Cancellation requests received before 15 July, 2021, will be refunded, except for less JPY6,000 (50 €) administrative fee* and bank handling fee. In case you pay with your credit card, this fee is avoided.

* For student application administration fee will be exemplified. (Full refund will be available.) Except for students that will receive the total reimbursement.
Registration fees of authors (including co-authors) will NOT be refunded.


Registration fees do not include insurance. It is strongly recommended that at the time you register for the International Docomomo Conference 2020+1 (IDC2020) and book your travel you take out an insurance policy of your choice. The policy should include

  • Loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Conference or through cancellation of the Conference,
  • Loss of international/domestic air fares through cancellation for any reason,
  • Loss of tour monies through cancellation for any reason including airline or related services strikes within Japan,
  • Failure to utilize tours or pre-booked arrangements due to airline delay,
  • Force Majeure or any other reason,
  • Medical expenses (including sickness and accident cover),
  • Loss or damage to personal property,
  • Additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered,
  • Medical expenses.

Docomomo Japan cannot take any responsibility for any participant failing to arrange their own insurance. This insurance is to be purchased in your country of origin.

Privacy policy
The personal information provided will not be used for any purpose other than the conference. We will not provide personal information without your consent. The manager of the acquired personal information will be assigned to the responsible manager, and we will take active measures to prevent loss or leakage.
Code of Conduct
The Organizer and Hosts of IDC2020+1 (the “Event”) reserve the right to remove from the venue/Event at any time any attendee deemed to be causing, or potentially causing, a disturbance or exhibiting disruptive or inappropriate behavior. Such removal does not constitute a right to refund of any fees paid.

Important information for authors

The second round application deadline is November 15, 2020..

1) In order to publish on the conference proceedings, all authors and co-authors must register and pay registration fee in full no later than November 15, 2020 (12 pm GMT:) Please be aware that the paper is once accepted, you are not allowed to change authors and co-authors. Please complete your registration and payment by this date. Registration and payment are required for co-authors and authors who wish to publish on the conference proceedings, but not to attend the conference in person. As an author, you have a reduced registration fee.
2) The first version of the full-paper submission deadline for the second round is March 15, 2021.

3) The final version of the full-paper submission deadline for the second round is May 20, 2021.

4)Requirement details such as the length of presentation or the format of file to be submitted will stay the same for online conference.

After 15 July 2021, no more registrations will be allowed.
